The Société Jersiaise has appointed a new Librarian, Bronwyn Matthews. Bronwyn formerly worked as the Special Collections Librarian at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. She is looking forward to meeting members of the Société Jersiaise and the general public and learning about Jersey's cultural heritage.


The Société Jersiaise 2014 Winter Lunch Time Lecture Series gets underway on Thursday 23rd January. This fascinating and diverse series of ten weekly talks on Jersey History, Architecture, Art, Geology, Photography and Theatre take place in the Members' Room, 7 Pier Road from 1.15-1.45pm. An exciting programme of exhibitions and events giving the Jersey Community the opportunity to plug into the international contemporary photography scene is launched this week. Jersey’s first International Photographer in Residence, Michelle Sank has begun work on a new commission of photographs for the island. Read Media Release here.

This summer the Archaeology Section of the Société Jersiaise, under the direction of their Field Archaeologist Robert Waterhouse MIfA, will be carrying out a programme of test-pitting on sites in eastern Jersey where Gallo-Roman settlement evidence has been found in the past.
